Lisbon School Nutrition Program Information:
Dear Parent/Guardian:
We are happy to announce that school meals will continue to be free for all students in the Lisbon School Department during the 2022-2023 school year! Any Lisbon family, regardless of income eligibility, will be able to participate in the nutritious and tasty meals provided from the Lisbon School Nutrition Program. We provide breakfast and lunch daily at all schools.
We are calling on you to take action this school year by taking the time to complete the Meal Benefit Application. Any family can benefit from participating in school nutrition programs, and this application is important for a number of reasons.
You may be wondering: why is completing the Meal Benefit Application necessary if meals are free anyway? Even though any family can participate in school meal programs at no cost, the family income data provided by completing the application informs key funding for academic resources. This application is one way you as a parent or caregiver can invest in your student’s education. Completing a Meal Benefit Application not only determines if your student(s) qualifies for free or reduced meal benefits; the information also provides additional funding resources to fund areas such as Title 1 academic support, additional counseling/ social worker services, reduced fees for testing & college applications, additional funding for technology resources plus many more. You pay also be eligible for additional Pandemic EBT funds.
You can fill out the meal benefit application online utilizing the website https://www.nlappscloud.com/ OR fill out the attached (yellow) application and return to your student’s school or mail to the address above. A new application MUST be completed every year, unless you receive a letter from myself, stating that your student has already been pre-approved utilizing the Direct Certification List as provided by the state of Maine.
Please note that breakfast and lunch received as a full meal is free, however individual a la carte items such as milk or juice must be paid for at a rate of $.60 each.
Your child has an individual school nutrition account with a six digit number associated with it. The account number can be obtained through their teacher or from the Nutrition Director. That number can be used to create an online account through www.myschoolbucks.com. You can utilize that account to monitor your student’s a la carte purchases as well as deposit funds electronically. Myschoolbucks has increased their fees this school year to as cost of $2.75 per transaction.
As part of the Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act, a student is required to choose ½ cup of fruit or vegetable component as part of a reimbursable meal. Under Offer VS. Serve a student must take 3 of the 5 components offered at lunch. These components include: Protein, Grain, Fruit, Vegetable, and Milk.
Please feel free to contact me with any and all questions pertaining to the Lisbon Nutrition Program including filling out the Free & Reduced Meal application form, finding out their account number or anything else I can be of service with. Email: [email protected]. Phone: 353-3044.
Kind Regards,
